Lots to get to today so let’s dive right into it.
> Brett Favre is a Jet. Does anyone outside of NYC/Green Bay care?
> The Browns first preseason game is tonight. Cleveland takes on (how funny is this to say) Brett Favre’s New York Jets. (Side note: I even knew what I was suppose to type and I still starting typing Green Bay.) I don’t know how much of the game, if any, I’ll catch since I have other plans (discussed in a few) but it’s good to know the Browns are back on the field. All the sarcastic “there’s always next year” sayings have gave way to “there’s always this year” attitudes. The Browns have a lot of expectations and a lot to prove. Not that tonight means much, but it could have an influence on the attitude the rest of camp. A good showing tonight gives the team confidence, brings them together and sets the stage for a strong season. A poor showing could leave the team with bad attitudes, the fans with a “oh no” attitude and it raises a lot of questions that probably don’t need to be asked. A good game just makes life easier. But what really matters about tonight’s game, is that the Cleveland Browns football season begins. I can’t wait to watch this team this year. I just won’t be able to watch them tonight. And that might not be such a bad thing because I won’t have to hear all the talk of Brett Favre on the Jets and camera shots to him on the sidelines (if he even makes it there which I’m guessing he doesn’t.)
> The PGA Championship is underway as I type (you read). Again, no Tiger Woods so it doesn’t feel that big. Again, probably won’t watch to much of this because of the weekend plans but it should be a good tournament. The British and the Bridgestone (the two big tourneys since Tiger’s been out) have been very entertaining and competitive. Everyone seems to be pick Jim Furyk or Anthony Kim or Kenny Perry or Phil or Vijay. Phil is done. Furyk is close to done. Kim is too young. Perry hasn’t played against anyone this year. I’m picking my new favorite player, Rich Beem. I have no real reason to pick Beem, although he did win the PGA in 2002, other than I just read a book on him and his one-time caddie Steve Deplantis and it was awesome. Beem is a big partier and womanizer and idolizes John Daly. Why wouldn’t I root for a guy like that.
> Pineapple Express opens tomorrow. I haven’t been excited to see too many movies recently but this one gets me excited like Adam Scott gets Seal excited. Hopefully, I’ll get a chance to see it before too long.
> No post tomorrow. Sorry to disappoint everyone again with my slacking but I’m heading to New York City with my brother to see my sister and cousins. Graig, I’ll be visiting your favorite spank bank memory, Yankee Stadium, anything you want me to swipe for you? I haven’t been to the city in some time so this should be a great trip. I’m sure you’ll hear all about it Monday. Have a great weekend and HERE WE GO BROWNIES, HERE WE GO!!!
