It’s going to be a golf filled weekend. The Open Championship is one thing but that’s not even the big event. It’s the Kim Denholm Charities golf outing that will be the real story from the weekend. Beanie will be joined by loyal and dedicated commenter and president of the I Hate Graig Fan Club, Seal, one-time commenter only to be pissed about my hole-in-one, Bub, and Beanie’s good friend from school who may or may not even know about this soon to be award winning site, JP. It should be an absolutely great time and I think we have a chance to win. When your D player is a hole-in-specialist, you know you got to be a favorite. However, scrambles are crazy and with 35 teams, you never know what’re you going to get. Well, I do know we are going to get beer, steak and an awesome time. To give you idea of how great it’s going to be I share this with you. I emailed the organizer yesterday to make sure we tee-ed off at 1. He responded with a yes and added, “hopefully it won’t rain but if it does, we have enough booze to make sure no one cares.” There could be a few good stories come Monday morning. (Seal, I’m going to the thrift store tonight to try and find some what matching ugly ass golf shirts for us to wear as a team uniform tomorrow. Be ready for something totally awesome!!)
In real golf news… are you kidding me with this leaderboard at The Open? Greg Norman is your leader. Camilo Villegas shoots a 5-under 65 to be one shot back. Rocco Mediate is just three back in fifth place. David Duval and Colin Montgomerie tied with Adam Scott in 11th? I love it. Who needs Tiger. If The Shark and The Rock are going to do this, I sure don’t. This leader board is awesome.
My favorite news of the day, Rich Beem and Sandy Lyle quitting. I but Phil and Ernie and Vijay wish they would have thought of that.
Joe Jurevicius will miss the first five games of the year for the Browns. Thank goodness the Browns signed Donte Stallworth in the offseason. That helps ease the hole filled by JJ but I’d rather have him out there and his sure handed third-down hands in there over Travis Wilson.
The Indians called Asdlkjalbal Cabrera back up to the team. Makes sense since he was hitting good at triple-A and this season is a loss. Put him at short, and Peralta and Marte split time at third, never let David Dellucci see the field again, trade Casey Blake, Barfield gets second when he’s healthy and call up some minor leaguers for the bullpen since it sucks as it is and they need experience.
I’m saying the Indians finish strong. With 68 games left, I bet they go 41-27 to finish just over .500. Not that means anything but it will give a small sense that this season wasn’t completely wasted since they have something to build on next year.
Enjoy the weekend. I know I will.
