Welcome sports fans. It’s a jammed pack weekend full of non-stop, high-entertaining, death-defying, hard-hitting action for one day only, ONE DAY ONLY, ONE DAY ONLY!
Sorry. I got a little carried away there but it should be a great weekend. I hope everyone enjoys it and maybe on Monday, one of you loyal readers can update me on what happened. That’s right, I won’t be able to enjoy much of the games and events for the weekend of Sept. 14, 15, 16. I will be locked away in the crazy, hot, party town of Erie, PA. (I hear I need my parka. Fantastic.) I’ll be at a wedding starting with the rehearsal dinner tonight, wedding at the worse time ever tomorrow (3:00) and then the reception which thankfully has an open bar. I’m heading there with the girlfriend since the bride is one of her best friends from college. I’ll know no one there (hence while the open bar is key). I will also miss most of the college football action (besides the noon games) on Saturday and I don’t think she plans on leaving Erie until 1-ish which means I’ll miss most of the Browns game too.
Here are some things I wish I would get to watch.
*** Michigan vs Notre Dame – This will either be a great football game since both teams are so bad, or it will be the ugliest football game ever played. I’m going with entertainingly ugly. Still haven’t decided if I’m going to try and watch this/find out about during/inbetween the wedding and reception or if I should DVD it and watch it Sunday.
*** Ohio State vs Washington – Ohio State hasn’t been tested yet playing Youngstown State and Akron, but yet they look like they have been tested. Their offense is almost as bad Michigan’s defense (OK, not even close but it’s still hasn’t looked good. Three points in the first half against Akron!?) Playing on the West Coast is never easy and the Huskies will be ranked in the top ten after this game for the first time in what seems like 45 years. Plus I need something to say to OSU fans. I’m sick of them already and it’s week three.
*** Florida vs Tennessee – I think Florida will kill them but that’s just when an upset is likely.
*** Louisville vs Kentucky – Whatever the over/under is in this game, take the over. This one has one of those 67-60 games written all over. These teams like playing defense as much as Tiger likes Phil. Should be a very entertaining game.
*** Duke vs Northwestern – Just plain comical.
*** USC vs Nebraska – I just love watching guys project a nice Booty.
So those are the late games, let’s see what games I’m stuck watching alone in the hotel room at noon.
Cincinnati vs Miami (OH) (This game really is on ABC at noon. What? They couldn’t get to the Kent State-Delaware State game? How can this really be the best regional game on at noon?), Pittsburgh vs Michigan State and Central Michigan vs Purdue. My God what a horrible TV lineup. I told the girlfriend I’d be fine by myself from 8 am when she left to get her hair done up and what not until the wedding on Saturday morning. I thought that because I thought there would be watchable games on TV. Now I hope the paper is wrong and there are other games on or I might be passed out before the wedding even begins.
If I get an Internet connect at the hotel, I might try to do a post Saturday morning to talk about the Browns-Bengals game and if anything good happened Friday night. Keep an eye out. I’ll need to do something to entertain me since I’ll be watching Miami football.
