In news only slightly more predictable than Lane Kiffin being fired and Al Davis wearing a windbreaker suit to the press conference, Travis Henry was arrested on cocaine charges and the Chicago Cubs lost a playoff game. With such shocking developments like this, will the college football weekend continue that trend or will it be more upsets and surprises. Only Beanie knows for sure
Tonight’s games
Pittsburgh at South Florida - Can my surprise team of 2008 redeem themselves slightly and pull off this upset? Not unless Dave Wannstedt is fired before 7:30.
Oregon State at Utah – Do the Beavers have another upset in their dam? No way. Not against Utah. I mean Utah destroyed a traditional powerhouse in Michigan. When Utah wins, can we all agree that Utah is better than Michigan and Ohio State. I mean, Ohio State lost to USC by 31 and USC lost to Oregon State by 6. So when Utah beats the Beavers by 24, I wonder how many they would beat the Buckeyes by?
Saturday’s games
Penn State at Purdue – Will a Big Ten title be enough for JoePa to finally walk away?
Akron at Kent State – The good old Acme Click Game!!! At what point in their lives to alums of these schools start caring about their team? It seems no student does and the only people I see rooting for either team are guys over 35.
Oklahoma at Baylor – OU is safe at No. 1 for now.
Stanford at Notre Dame – The Irish just may be better than we all though. But how do you think their center feels every time Clay Aiken’s boyfriend puts his hands up his ass?
Kentucky at Alabama – I wouldn’t be surprised if Kentucky wins this game? They haven’t played anyone yet but their defense is the best in the nation (statistically) and Bama is coming of a huge win.
Florida State at Miami (FL) – I hope there is a huge riot (not unlikely) and both programs are suspended for my life time.
Auburn at Vanderbilt – Vandy a top ten team? Maybe, just maybe, after this big win.
Ohio State at Wisconsin – Ohio State got blown out by the only good team they played this year and have struggled against almost every other mediocre team (D I-A) team they have played. Wisconsin struggled to beat Fresno State and pounded to MAC teams before losing to a question mark Michigan team. I’d say a top ten preseason ranking for both teams was a little bit over the top. Wisconsin simply doesn’t lose at home and Ohio State just isn’t that good defensively. Their offense is much better with Pryor (my God I wish he went to Michigan, we’d be undefeated probably b/c no one would know how to stop a white running back and a black quarterback since it’s never been done before). But Chris Wells is more worried this week about getting himself back in the Heisman race than he is about anything else. That kind of selfishness is never good. Suckeye fans start thinking of your excuses now.
Illinois at Michigan – Does anyone know what to expect from Michigan? Will it be the struggled to beat Miami, looked awful against Notre Dame and turned the ball over six times in the first half against Wisconsin? Or will it be the team that took over in the second half against the Badgers? The defense seems to be what they expected at the beginning of the year. Holding Wisconsin to 19 points after six turnovers is impressive. The offense, maybe, is starting to figure itself out. But it’s a young team that has been inconsistent. I think they have found themselves and are going to beat another team that was over hyped in the preseason, but that may be the fan in me talking. They could easily find a way to have 15 turnovers and lose by 35. Nothing would surprise me. However, the comeback win last week set the tone for the Wolverines the rest of the season.
Akron fans used to care. I remember seeing those dumbass “Frye For Heisman” bumper stickers. Ridiculous. That guy couldn’t even keep his job with the Browns.
You say that OSU fans should prepare their excuses, but the same can be said for Cubs fans come Monday morning when they are out of the playoffs. Stupid losers.
Oh i take it you are a dodgers fan now graig??
That was quite the reach with OSU losing to Utah by 24, although I am thinking you were joking. Anyway, their D is overrated but usually not so much in the Big Ten. That is really their problem. They are a team that can win in the Big Ten and their strategy is geared toward their conference. When they see knew things thrown their way, they are slow to adjust, which makes them a bad defense. Result of coaching or players? Maybe both.
**Upset Alert** Purdue over Penn State. Illinois over Michigan (if you call that an upset). Vandy over Auburn (WE ACTUALLY AGREE BEANIE!!). Id say OSU over Wisc but they are already the favorite by 2 points last I checked.
You just can’t get through one post without ripping the Buckeyes can you? Why would you say Wells is more worried about getting back in the Heisman race this week? Do you have some source here at THE Ohio State University? I haven’t seen Jeff Phelps around here lately. Wells has to run for 200 yds/gm for the rest of the season to win the Heisman. He has no shot and I would hope he knows it.
No one cares about MAC Football, it’s not just an Akron/Kent thing.
D – I say that b/c I do have an inside source at Ohio State (no reason to put The in front that. That’s always bothered me. Why put it there? Are you going to get confused with A Ohio State?) My inside source is the Plain Dealer and Akron Beacon Journal. ABJ headline: Wells upbeat about Heisman chances. PD: Beanie: I’m still in running for Heisman. So yeah, that’s how I know. So at least OSU players are as stupid and ignorant as their fans.
I did see an article in the Plain Dealer where Wells (editors note: NOT BEANIE!!!!!) did state he thinks he is not out of the running for heisman and it shouldn’t go to the guy with the best stats, it should go to the best player in college football. I don’t really like the comments myself. You don’t skip a game like USC and expect to win the Heisman. We will beat Wisc by about 10 though. They are overrated. OSU is a top ten team.
Hate Hate Hate Hate… like I always say Damman… OSU is the equivalent to the Yankees. As good as they may be, people still hate them who aren’t fans. When was the last time any other team in the Big Ten had a run like ours?? O yah, Michigan in the 90s. I take the hate for what it is… jealousy.
Can we change the subject now? We’ve been arguing about OSU for 3 weeks now and nothing is going to change. I was actually for the rule about not talking about the topic anymore.
W – Illinois over Michigan is your upset?? wow you are really going on a limb there since Illinois is favored by 5.
And beanie never ripped on OSU just stated facts. deal with it damman osu blows.
the worst about ksu/akron fans is when watching one of the schools play OSU and the whole bar is cheering for the bucks but when asked what school they go to its either akron or kent. ridiculous
W – no you werent you were the only one saying is was more fun and interesting than reading the posts. osu has dominated the big ten for 5 years hardly the yankees. michigan owned it throughout the 90s and early 2000s.
I put THE just for you for buddy, I knew you would like it.
I’m sorry I don’t get the PD and ABJ, so I wasn’t aware of those articles. If he is upbeat, fine. If he thinks he still has a chance at the Heisman, fine. It’s only going to make him run harder and practice harder. If that’s what he needs to get himself going, then so be it. Does that make him selfish, Having personal goals (however unlikely)? It’s not like its going to tear the locker room apart. All I care about is him putting up big numbers and if he does, the Buckeyes win games and that’s all that matters.
OSU/Mich talk is good for business here at JBeanie. The comments always explode on these days. Plus, I am not doing a damn thing at work today.
W – the rule was no talking about OSU or Michigan if I didn’t talk about them in the post. I clearly, even you could figure this one out, talked about them in the post today. And you are giving yourself way to much credit for comparing the Suckeyes to the Yankees. Do you really think anyone outside of Michigan or Ohio is paying attention to them or care what they do? Nope.
Seal, no, I’m not a Dodgers fan but I am this week.
W, good job on posting three times in a row. I guess that there was no way that you could have fit all of that well-thought crap into one post.
Beanie, you’re not a real communist blogger.
Do I think anyone outside Michigan and Ohio care? My opinion, yes, cause I have to hear about it every where I go, including outside both of those states. And I didn’t pick your rule up about if you talk about it, its ok. Good to know.
I like the Dodgers this week cause Manny is a friggin beast and ridiculous to watch in the post season. I know the Red Sox won lst night, but they and Big Papi looked completely different offensively last night without him.
Scott, Illini by 5? I may have to take Michigan. I think it’s gonna be close.
Graig, I was upset after I had to post 3 times, but thank you for the comment. You and me are starting to get along after all.
I am the classic example of an Ohio State fan. I’m as ignorant as I am arrogant. I apologize for this and promise to never talk about Ohio State again. I know you guys can’t take it any more and I’m sorry. I will root and comment fairly from now on.
AHAHAH… we have a vantrilaquist among us. I am being as fair as anyone else.
The comment I had was great too.
Beanie, I think I love you.
That’s it. W’s on a college football weekend picks suspension. Next Thursday, he will not be allowed to comment. Not so much for what you said (although you suck) but for how many comments you have left. As much as the rest of us will enjoy this punishment, you will obviously, by how many comments you leave, be in more pain than we are in pleasure.
LMAO… I just won’t comment at all so your comments will dwindle… or perhaps I will setup a new email account and alias. For now… W is on a long retirement.
Good. You’re a fag anyway. The comments were fine before you showed up. Way to finally show some blog-balls, Beaner.
Graig you are a total dousche and if I ever met you I would punch you square between your eyes. Pussies talk smack on the internet. I don’t even know you either which makes me want to whoop your ass even more. Do you get off on being a dick or are you one of those people that was always picked and this is your way of making yourself feel better? Blogs are made for opinions and you argue as if your opinion is a fact. Maybe you should go into politics, you’d fit right in with all the other assholes.
And ask your wife if I am a fag… although she might not be able to answer that question correctly as I was doing her in the ass and she might have gotten the wrong idea.
Beanie… you really let this guy remain on your site? At least I start fights and arguements with topics, this guy just goes personal on you.
W, out. I don’t retire until the end of the work day.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
I’m sorry. What was I thinking? I should have never called W a fag because that would be brutally insulting to fags. I’m not even going to address the “punch” threat because it’s: a.) ridiculous and b.) would likely be more of a limp-wristed slap.
It’s “douche” and not “dousche”. If you are going to go on a lunatic rant, correct spelling helps drive home your point. Thank you for the lesson on what blogs are all about. For the record, I only went “personal” on you and no one else here. Since I don’t know you as a person and only as a moronic Ohio State alum that knows very little about the ten unnecessary comments that you post per day, I’m not quite sure how I’ve gotten personal.
Go watch Desperate Housewives and let us know, in no less than 5 comments, how often your vagina weeps.
god you are the worst predictor of games EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
