It is with great sadness that I announce today will be my last J Beanie post.
For sometime, at least until Sept. 29, maybe later. I need to take a break and clear my mind from all the ridiculous comments, thoughts, opinions and predictions my readers have filled my head with. I need to refresh. I need to fall in love with sports all over again. I need a break from W.
I have been thinking about it for some time. The best way to do this is to take a vacation. I have always wanted to go to Italy, so there is no better time than now. I leave Saturday morning. I’ll be gone for eight days. To my faithful followers, try to find a way to cope with my absence. It will be hard, but like Lisa getting over her Corey line addiction, the first 24 hours will be the worst. If you can get through that, you can get through anything. I think I’ll have Internet overseas (did you know the Internet is world wide?) so I may check in a few times. But really, I’ll be in Italy, there is so many better things to do than check J Beanie. But for my minions, I may just shoot you a line.
It will be hard to follow sports while I’m over there and I’m not happy about missing so many football games, but I think my dream trip to Italy wins out over a Troy-Ohio State game. I want to take this opportunity to make a few predictions that I won’t see happen or not happen while I’m gone.
MLB
• The Mets won’t win the East.
• But will make the playoffs thanks to the Brewers doing their best Mets impression.
• I don’t care how many security guards and cops are at Yankee Stadium on the last day, those fans are still going to tear stuff out of there.
College Football
• Michigan will only lose one game while I’m gone.
• Ohio will be Northwestern. MAC over Big Ten baby!
• At least one top five team will lose. I’m thinking Florida to Tennessee.
• Or Arizona State over Georgia.
• Notre Dame wins two games.
• Syracuse finally wins a game when it beats Pittsburgh.
• Butch Davis goes WWE style and tackles his own quarterback on the potential game-winning drive when North Carolina plays at Miami, then rips of his powder blue polo and reveals a big orange “U” on his chest.
• Colorado beats Florida State showing FSU’s top 25 ranking is as big of a joke as their graduation rate.
• TCU gives Oklahoma a scare.

Week Three picks (13-14 on the year)…
ATLANTA vs Kansas City – then the two argue over which is worse, starting Joey Harrington or Tyler Thigpen.

The Busket Boys will most likely win a game while you are away and then we will have to question if we need to release you, or better yet, trade you for some value… like the guy from our very first game with the long grey mullet.
It was spontaneously planned. About three weeks ago, out of the blue, my mom asked me if I could get a week off of work next week. I tried, got it, and the plans were set.

There is no way that this was spontaneous though. You don’t just book international flights when you write a column called Tossed Salad. You’re no James Bond.
I told you, it was spontaneously planned. My mom promised me this trip for year and then it was out of the blue she booked it, but booked it a month in advance so therefore spontaneously planned.

I can’t believe any of you would believe that a journalist for the
unknown newspaperand a blogger for this god awful (ly wonderful) site and someone who lives with his parents would be able to afford a spontaneous trip to Italy. Beanie your readers are idiots. Whenever I read a comment I always gave them the benefit of the doubt and said “They really can’t be that dumb” but now all benefits are out the window. I will miss hanging out with you and the Sister but as far as going to Europe no thank you. As far as real Italian cuisine goes I guess you haven’t seen the new Pizza Hut commercial because they have food that even fools Italian chefs so I will have that and then to seen al lthe “magnificient” temples and buildings I will open up a book and read all about it. But have fun anywaysI forgot to mention this earlier – did you see Tressels quote after the USC game? He said it would have been a different game if Beanie Wells had played. Really? He said that why didnt he add but I am an idiot and played him during a YSU blowout. But when you look at the numbers. OSU beat YSU 45-0 or something like that. And they lost 35-3 to USC and that is about a 42 point difference so maybe Tressel was right.

My bad wasn’t thinking about naming your paper you work for. but i wasnt knocking on you or saying you said you were going by yourself. yes you mentions the parents several times but this goes to prove my point that your folowers are pretty unintelligent
Of course the OSU game would have been different had Beanie played. We still would have lost, but we would have scored the first time we had the ball. There would have been no reason to run the option at the 5 yd line with him in. Not that there was without him in. The final score would have been closer to 21-10. Beanie would account for one td and would have slowed down the game with him running the ball so they wouldn’t have scored as much. Maybe even cuts down on a turnover as well. USC is the better team. OSU is better with Beanie.
The problem of the game wasn’t so much the talent level as it was the terrible conservative play calling Tressel brought to OSU from YSU. Their first td we had our LB matched up on their quick RB. Who does that?? Tressel needs to hand over the play calling. Still, USC wins 6-7 times out of 10, but Tressel needs to grow a pair and be more aggressive. I still hate talking OSU football with Michigan fans. Theres no way either of us will win. It’s upsetting when we still haven’t made adjustments from the Florida game. I am hoping the Raiders fire Lane Kiffin and the Buckeyes pick him up as their Off Coord and let him call the plays.
Scott, read Tressel’s quote. He said it would have been different if Beanie had played. He didn’t say they would have won. Of course it would have been different. Obviously, OSU wouldn’t have won, but they would have made it a little more respectable. I know your desire to trash OSU is strong, but at least do it by paying attention to what is actually said by someone not by what you wish they would have said.

Unbelevable the game would not have been different at all. Chris wells does not play defense and USCs run D is dominant. 21-10??? W are you f’ing serious. It might have been 42-10. Or more likely it would have been 63-10 since USC would have kept pouring it on instead of feel sorry for the Suckeyes (no longer the Luckeyes) without their star back. Game would no way have been closer.

Seal.. my comments represent a book only when they are about the Buckeyes. I could probably write a 300 page book about my love for the Buckeyes. If I take every post I have ever made about them on this site, I might already be halfway there. I have to make them extra long for Michigan fans. I don’t even think they should be allowed to call themselves the Michigan Wolverines. They have turned into the Cuyahoga Falls football team… a disgrace. They shouldn’t be allowed to run out of the tunnel and touch their big banner anymore either… much like black tiger football. Scott… why are you still on the buckeyes? we lost… nuff said. Our arguements between how it would have been different are complete opinions. OSU will get redemption at the end of the season when we trounce UM 42-0 and get our rematch with USC in the Rose Bowl… that is if they don’t run the table like I think they will.

Outside the top 20? I’d take that bet. They’ll beat UM as well. I am not sure if we win out if we’d make it to he Natl Champ though. It depends on the other teams, and the teams would have to have 2 losses, so I am close to agreeing with you there. I think it will be Oklahoma and USC at the end of the year.
Damman, I think we have the talent to be a contender, we just don’t use it correctly. You can’t tell me we get all these blue chips recruits in and they all are jokes. That the scouts got only our guys wrong. We are too conservative in the big games. It works in the Big Ten and makes Tressel look like a genious, but when it comes time to open it up, he is completely lost. His theory on special teams winning games makes about as much since as Scott saying UM will beat OSU in the shoe at the end of the year.
Coaching and getting the guys prepared has to have something to do with it. Tressel and his staff definitely deserve a lot blame for these shitty performances because the talent is there to compete.
No way the Bucks get back to the title game. They don’t deserve it this year.
