A quick (late) Indians and Cavs entry…
… Last year I called C.C Sabathia, C.C. Cy-bathia when he was dominating hitters and was on his way to the Cy Young award. This year, it’s Cliff Lee, or Cy Lee (or Cliff Cy-lee, which one?). Lee has been amazing. He’s 6-0 with an ERA under 1.00. Any see this coming? If you said yes, you are a liar and an idiot. No one could have see it coming. Last night he was dominate again in beating the Yankees. (Quick side note: Last night’s win guaranteed the Indians the season series win over the Yankees for the first time since 1993 [I think.]) All this from a guy who sucked last year, was sent to the minors last year (sucked there), was discussed in trade talks all winter, had to battle it out with two other pitchers just to make the team and was probably only given the roster spot because he makes more money than the other two. On top of all his amazing stats, what makes his season even more spectacular is that the Indians offense still is as good as Cavs offense from Game 1. They are awful. They’re batting .240 as a team (second to last in the league), scored 140 runs (4.2 a game puts them 11th out of 14 teams) and are 10th with only 24 home runs. The best offensive player is Victor Martinez who has just six extra base hits on the year and no home runs. It’s great to beat the Yankees in back-to-back games. The Tribe’s won because of pitching (not just starting but have you noticed how much better the bullpen is with out Joe-Blo?) and David Dellucci. Dellucci had the game winning hit in both games. When you are relying on Dellucci to win you ball games, you know something isn’t right. That’s like the Cavs relying on Ben Wallace and Andy to lead the team in scoring.
… Game 2 tonight between the Cavs and Celtics. Let’s put the missed opportunity, the wasted chance, of Game 1 behind us and win Game 2. The goal all along (as Rosenberg said directly after Game 1) was to split with Boston in Boston. Get home court advantage. The Cavs can’t play and worse. LeBron is usually pretty good at bouncing back after a bad game. Just look at Game 5 and Game 6 of the Washington series. You have to figure Pierce and Allen won’t play as bad as they did and KG won’t play as good as he did. If LBJ does what he all expect him to do and doesn’t act like this is the first time he has seen a double team and Wally doesn’t use the first half as his warm-ups (that means don’t start 0-for-8 again or what ever he was before you decide to make shots. They have shoot-a-rounds and warm-ups for that.), and Boobie learns to shoot in a game other than a Game 6, the Cavs win.
The key is not falling behind early. Like a wise man once said, you can’t play from behind in Boston. The Cavs had to dig themselves out of a 10-point hole in Game 1 and never could do it. Yes, I know they had the lead for a while but if they don’t get down big early, it’s a different ball game. I want to see LeBron attack early and often. Don’t wait for the double teams, don’t wait for Z or anyone to come set a screen for the pick-and-roll, that only brings another defender on him. He needs to just beat his own man off the dribble. He can do that all game. I don’t know why he waits for the screen.
I expect a big game from LBJ, obviously, but Z needs to not be ignored. He can score on Perkins or whoever they put on him. In Game 1, a lot of times they went inside to Z, everyone stopped moving. Z got himself in trouble a few times and was called for traveling or put up a bad shot. Once Z gets the ball, there needs to be cutters and shooters moving to the open spots, not just standing on the far side of the court waving their arms.
The Cavs need it tonight. They need to come out with lots of energy and a sense of urgency right from the start. I think they will. I think LeBron knows they missed a great chance to take control of the series in Game 1 and won’t let another opportunity like that to slip away.
… Welcome back Frank. We missed you (at least I did). I don’t know what’s up with the gay patterns. Did you pick them out? And how can you say you aren’t buying 23 cent pizza? That’s the best thing ever. I say we buy a bunch and throw them at your front winning for you sucking so much and leaving the protective bubble of J Beanie. But it’s nice to have you back. Now that Frank’s back, where’s Graig Jr.? I kind of miss him.
Fratello
Someone please remind Cliff Lee that he sucks. That being said, the Yankees are God awful. None of you Indians fans are allowed to talk shit because Dellucci is the reason that you took the first two games and you’ve been trying to run him out of town since day one. Don’t be a hypocrite. Travis Hafner might be worse than Giambi…JEREMY Giambi.
I hope you’re right about the Cavs, but I don’t think tonight is a good night for us to steal. We woke them up Tuesday.
They are actually doing the 23 cent pizzas in Columbus but you can only order one per call.
Graig, Jr was put down like Eight Belles.
Just tried to get the 23 cent pizza and the guy from our office ended up abandoning it. The line was about 70 yards out the door. Now I have to try and get my $.25 back from him.
Graig, youre an idiot. How was it that Dellucci is the reason we won last night when we only needed 1 run to beat your brutal offense who put up and “O”fer. That one run was driven in by Victor in the first. Or how about Blake later in the game?? And I think you need to remind Jeter that he is old and overrated before you remind Lee of anything. While Lee is dominating the American League, that fairy Jeter is making stupid throwing errors to first or not getting to balls hit up the middle that slow ass peralta would get to.
Oh and Jbeanie, not to correct, but ill play stat-boy today and its been since ‘92 that the Tribe has beaten the Yanks in a season series. But really who gives a shit, its great to beat those overpayed pieces of shit.
Hi Frank!!!
Graig, what are you talking about. I love DD. He’s our best offensive player. Why would we want to get rid of him? He’s a Yankee killer!!!
Jeremy Giambi might be the spark the Indians needs. Think he’ll leave his insurance sales job to play for us?
I’m waiting until about 1, maybe 2, to try and get a pizza. The line has to be down by then right? GFB, come pick me up and we can go wait in that line together. We can talk about how much we love David Dellucci!!!!
Wow, look at Seal come strong. I love it. He’s pissed. Someone get that man a 23 cent pizza. (Thanks for the correction. I found that right after I posted but didn’t feel like going back to fix it. Missed you at golf last night.)
Seal, you’re almost as worthless as Assdribble Cabrera. You are the Phil Hughes of Beanie commenters.
You’re the DeShawn Stevenson to my LeBron. Yeah, that’s right.
To be honest, it’s a good thing that the Cavs are still playing because they are a fine distraction from my horrible baseball team.
Look at all those facts and figures you threw in my face to prove what i said was wrong… oh wait, you didnt disprove anything… you just ran your mouth and tried to “make fun of me” like the typical yankee fan you are. So were you born and raised in New York or are you a pussy front runner like every other yankee fan? Oh wait, youre a cavs fan too so you must have grown up in cleveland? oh yea, youre a redskins fan too, so you probably spent most of your life in the D.C. area? Go ahead and keep up the “name calling” Greg (learn to spell your own name buddy).
No need for quotes around make fun of me, I was. I will not explain the reasons for my fanhood to you. Since when did where you grew up mean that you were shoe-horned into rooting for the nearest teams??? Growing up, the Yankees were just as awful as the Indians were anyway.
I was named after a Yankee, you were named after a shitty, pit-faced R&B singer and an animal that looks better when it’s clubbed. Advantage: me.
Go sing Kiss From A Rose at the nearest leather bar.
About your facts, you’re right Dellucci wasn’t directly responsible for the win last night but it’s foolish to think that he didn’t play a big role. How did Grady get in position to score the first run??? Thanks. Only a pompous ass would attack a first ballot hall of famer who made one poor throw.
Congrats on your first season series win since Clinton was in office…you guys are good. I hope you and your fans start showing up before October again this year.
This is great. I love the hatred. You can really feel it. I feel like punching someone right now. But, Graig, you can’t really mock us on winning a series or anything right now. We could be 4-158 and you can’t say anything because the Indians beat the Yankees in the playoffs last year. But that also proves the regular season is meaningless since you swept us. Damnit, as I type this, Giambi just homered. 3-0 NY. Is the Indians the only team Giambi hits against? OK, well, I’ll just stand back and let you two go at it. Good luck. Early round went to Seal but Graig came back strong w/ that last post and might have pulled out in front. Rise up Seal!!!
Just tried to get a 23 cent pizza, too. GFB was right. Line way too long. It was about an hour and half wait. Not worth it. How can these people stand in that line that long? Don’t they work?
3-3 now. GO TRIBE!
Giambi count: 6 HR’s on the year; 3 off Byrd, 2 off Mike Timlin, the other was probably hit off of Seal
I’m not trying to say that you guys shouldn’t be pumped, I’m just pissed that my team is getting crushed by the two area fanbases (you guys and the Tigers) and I have to listen to it.
Cano just homered, 5-3 Yanks. Cano is batting .172 (that’s with two hits today). It makes sense he homers against Byrd. That’s probably the game winner. No way the Tribe scores three more runs. That is, unless Joba pitches. The Indians own that guy.
Looks like Booger decided to throw batting practice today. Betemit goes deep.
most front runners usually dont want to explain why they are a fan of a certain team. It actually takes some balls to like a baseball team who rarely wins, but makes it all worth while when they finally are good and knock “your” yankees out of the playoffs. Thats a real sports fan. By the way, how much did it cost you guys to lose to us in the playoffs last year?
Oh and my first name is Chris, spelled that way, the correct way, not kriaskldjjssss, which is probably how your parents would have spelled it. So all that shit you talked about me being named after the singer, who is married to a girl you jerk it to with the help of your other yankee fans, was worthless becuase its my last name dildo.
Blah, blah, blah…you should still be clubbed. You did not refute that.
I’m just saying, I was born in 1980 and for the first 14 years of my life, the Yankees were terrible. Yet I’ve always been a fan. Again, how does geography have anything to do with who you should root for. Just because you like the Indians, that means that I have to, too??? That doesn’t make sense. Being abrasive and a massive homer does not make someone a real sports fan.
Joba gets Dellucci out today…thanks a lot, jerk.
Wow, I missed a lot. I didn’t think this would reach a boiling point at least until the Cavs were out of the playoffs and I certainly didn’t think David Delucci would be the reason for it.
The reason geography should play a part in who you root for is that being born in 1980 there was no internet and ESPN didn’t start showing MLB games until like 1992. So the only source of information you got about your team was more than likely from a local sports paper and even then most of your information would be limited to a boxscore. Why are there so many more Yankee fans than Mariner or Oriole fans? Is Graig Nettles your namesake? If so, he played for the Tribe for a small amount of time. Deep down inside, you must be an Indians fan. We all know it.
Actually, GFB, my old man had one of those old and huge satellites that used to get NY stations. You know, the one’s that looked like they were supposed to be in space.
Funny.. I’ll give you a pass this year with your Yankees. I prefer to save my venom for the Redskins.
