LeBron and Andy back tonight

It’s a rainy, gloomy day outside, I’m tired and there isn’t much going on in the world of athletics that interest me, but being the dedicated blogger that I am, I will trek forward and pound out something here that may or may not be worth reading.

First, the Cavs. LeBron is suppose to play tonight against the Pacers. Why the rush? It’s not like the Cavs need him. They are playing so well without him. When LBJ was playing, he was averaging 30 ppg and the team was around 103 ppg. Without LeBron, the Cavs are averaging something like 73 ppg. Mathematically it makes sense. Take a 30 point scorer out of the line up and the team will score 30 points less but I never thought that would actually happen. Has this happened in other sports or with other teams? Really, no one stepped up and increased their scoring when LeBron was out? Normally when one guy goes out, other people score more. Not the Cavs. They are so dependent on James, they still count on him scoring from the bench. But really, how do the Cavs really average 30 points less a game. This is mind blowing. So, yes, the Cavs need LeBron back. The need him back like I need to win my fantasy leagues. They need him back like I need to just go home for the day. They need him back like the next Michigan coach needs to beat Ohio State in his first try. They need him back like LSU needs to beat OSU so all their fans can shut up. They need him back like I need to stop making horrible comparisons.

Also coming back tonight is Anderson Varejao. It will be interesting to see how the home crowd reacts to him. Will they cheer and yell “Wild Thing” like they did last year or will they boo him because of his comments about not wanting to play in Cleveland. I hope they give him the silent treatment. Somehow they get all 20,000 people to just remain completely quiet when he checks in and whenever he does something. Let’s wait to see how he does before we cheer for him.

They say he’s going to be real rusty and out of sync. His jumper will probably be off and dribbling might look awkward. Wait, he never could shoot or dribble anyway. There’s no reason for a guy like him to be “rusty.” That’s not an excuse. All he does is run around like an idiot and piss people off. He’s a hustler, rebounder and charger-taker, not a shooter or penetrate You don’t have to be in “basketball shape” to do that. So I better not hear Anderson played bad because he was rusty.

Another thing on Andy, he practiced with the team on Sunday then had to go get his work visa. I don’t understand this process. The same thing happened with Sasha earlier this year. If they need a work visa to play in the NBA, why are they allowed to practice without it? That’s not even the part the bothers me. This is, how come they have to go to Canada to get a work visa to play basketball in the United States? This makes about as much sense as playing tennis with a baseball bat. If anyone knows why this is, please explain it to me. If no one can, I’ll chalk it up to another one of the world’s mysteries like how does Swiss cheese get it’s holes and how many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop.
